Accessing the Self Care Portal

While on campus, open a browser and go to phoneselfcare.uhcl.edu.

Log in using your UHCL Single Sign-On credentials (the same username and password used to log in to your computer).


Phone Management Tabs

Once logged in, you will see several tabs that allow you to manage your phone preferences.

The Phones tab displays your phone type and allows you to set personal preferences.

Phone Settings

In the Phone Settings section, you can click each row of options and adjust them to your preferences.

Note: The Services option has been disabled.

Speed Dial

To add numbers to speed dial:

  1. Open the Speed Dial option.
  2. Select Add New Speed Dial.
  3. Enter the phone number and label.
  4. Click Save.

Ring Settings, Voicemail Notification Settings, and Call History

In each of these sections, you can adjust preferences based on your extension. Use the available check boxes and drop down fields to configure the options.

Saving Changes

The settings are controlled by check boxes and drop down menus. After making any changes, click Save to apply them or Cancel if you do not want to keep the changes.

Phone Contacts

In the Phone Contacts section, you can create a personal contacts list that is available from your phone's Directory button.

Use Create New Contact to add entries or use the search options to find existing contacts.

Call Forwarding

In the Call Forwarding tab, you can set your extension to forward all calls to voicemail or to another number.

Note: When entering a phone number, do not use parentheses, commas, dashes, or periods.

To turn Call Forwarding off, clear the check box for Forward all calls to.

Voicemail and IM & Availability

The Voicemail and IM & Availability tabs let you:

  • Change your voicemail preferences.
  • Turn Do Not Disturb (DND) on or off.

To change voicemail preferences, click Dial. Your phone will dial voicemail and walk you through updating your settings.

For availability, use the Do Not Disturb option to set DND on or off.

General Settings

Under the General Settings tab, you can view or modify options such as:

  • Display Language
  • Phone Services PIN
  • Conference Now Access Code

Not all options in this section can be changed, but they are useful preferences to be aware of when accessing your phone settings through the online Self Care Portal.
