OneButton Studio Booking Information

Welcome to the OneButton Studio @ UHCL

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!

The Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) Office is proud to offer the OneButton Studio, a fully-equipped video recording space designed for UHCL students, faculty, and staff. The studio makes professional-quality video production easy and accessible—no prior video editing or filming experience required.

Located in Bayou Building Room B3608 (3rd Floor), the studio is ideal for:

  • Class presentation rehearsals

  • Video essays and ePortfolios

  • Public speaking practice

  • Interviews or panel recordings

  • Instructional content for online learning

  • Green screen projects for creative or professional use

Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday​​​, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

A Student Assistant will be on-site to assist with your session and answer any questions.

First-Time Users – Required Orientation

If this is your first time using the OneButton Studio, you must attend a 15-minute orientation session to learn how the studio works and what to expect. This orientation:

  • Must be scheduled prior to your first recording session

  • Can be booked directly before your recording session if desired (back-to-back appointments encouraged)

  • Cannot be completed after your session

What You’ll Need to Bring

  • A USB flash drive formatted to FAT32 (not NTFS)

    • At least 1GB of free space is recommended (enough for ~25 minutes of recording)

  • Your materials: slides, script, or anything you want to present

  • Your creativity!

How to Format a USB Drive to FAT32

Note: Formatting your USB drive will erase all data. Be sure to back up any important files before proceeding.

On Windows:

  1. Insert your USB drive

  2. Open File Explorer, right-click your USB drive, and select Format

  3. Under File System, select FAT32

  4. Leave the other settings as default, then click Start

On macOS:

  1. Insert your USB drive

  2. Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)

  3. Select your USB drive in the left panel

  4. Click Erase

  5. Choose MS-DOS (FAT) as the format and Master Boot Record (MBR) as the scheme

  6. Click Erase to complete

On Chromebook:

  1. Insert your USB drive

  2. Open the Files app

  3. Right-click the USB drive in the left sidebar

  4. Select Format Device

  5. The drive will be automatically formatted as FAT32
