Can I Still Participate in Zoom Meetings After My UHCL Zoom Account Is Deactivated?

Overview

Yes. Even after UHCL's Zoom service ends, you may still participate in Zoom meetings hosted by external organizations.

Participation Options

  • Join meetings using a personal Zoom account.
  • Join meetings as a guest through a web browser.
  • Use a Meeting ID provided by the meeting organizer.

Limitations

  • Free Zoom accounts may have time restrictions.
  • Free Zoom services are not covered by UHCL support.
  • Zoom is not approved for sharing protected university information after the service transition.

Security Reminder

Do not share HIPAA-protected information, FERPA-protected information, personally identifiable information (PII), or financial information through non-approved Zoom services.

Recommended Alternative

Use Microsoft Teams whenever possible for university business, instruction, and collaboration.
